In August 2021 we hosted the second edition of the Medical Augmented Reality Summer School,
again bringing together the world's experts in Medical AR, clinicians, companies and talented academic researchers from all around the world,
foster cooperation, and hopefully push the boundaries of Medical Augmented Reality.
The summer school was be held as an online event, organized by a consortium of scientists and clinicians from Balgrist University Hospital,
Zurich, Switzerland, Technical University, Munich, Germany, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA, and University of Zurich, Switzerland, which are among the leading
centers for cutting-edge research in Medical Augmented Reality.
The event consisted of daily sessions, streamed from August 30th to September 10th 2021,
including exciting keynotes of renowned speakers from research, hospital, and industry, as well as panel discussions and live surgery.
After the keynote part of the event, the participants of the competition developed a project idea together with respective mentors in group breakout sessions and pitched their final concept at the end of the two-week workshop.
In the next months, the 13 teams participating in the MARSS2021 competition developed and implemented individual Medical AR project solutions and prototypes in two tracks with the topics:
The winners of the MARSS2021 competition were selected by an independent jury after the final presentations on March 14th, 2022.
