International Summer School and Challenge

Application

The organization committee will prescreen all applications and preselect the participants for the event. After the preselection process you will be informed via E-Mail and asked to transfer the registration fee to complete the registration. We will offer two types of applications:

Individual (100 CHF)
Individual registered participants will be assigned to a team for the challenge

Research group (300 CHF)
3-5 researchers from one lab who will participate in the challenges as a team

Event Description

The second edition of the MAR2021: Summer School and Challenge is planned to be an online event, organized by a consortium of scientists and clinicians from Balgrist University Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland, Technical University, Munich, Germany, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA, and University of Zurich, Switzerland, which are among the leading centers for cutting-edge research in Medical Augmented Reality. The event will start with daily three hour sessions, streamed from 30th of August to 10th of September 2021, from 4 PM - 7 PM EST, including exciting keynotes of renowned speakers from research, hospital, and industry and panel discussions. The participants will develop a project idea together with respective mentors in group breakout sessions and pitch their final concept at the end of the two-week workshop.

The end of the workshop marks the kick-off of the challenges for which the individual groups have the opportunity to implement their project idea until early 2022 (the exact date will be announced soon). There will be two challenges with different general topics in the field of medical AR, which are held in cooperation with industry partners. The winning teams will be selected by an independent jury and awarded with prizes in a live demonstration at the award ceremony.
